Google has made our life a misery when it comes to SEO, and new web developers are finding it harder and harder to get an edge in the SERPs.
There are a million and one tricks to get you ranked for low competition keywords, yet there are few that stand out as much as this one.
When you are trying to rank a page for a low competition keyword, you can get maybe one or two pages in the results. You do this by having your blog post appear on your front page, and also, the post itself will get ranked. This all depends on how much of an authority Google sees your site.
However, you can use a quick trick to enable your site to get at least two rankings for the same keyword. This works 90% of the time, and looks very good having two pages on the first page, so you get more clicks.
All you need to do is have a PDF converter on your computer, which will convert a Word doc or you can even use Open Office Writer to create the PDF. Simply copy your post, and paste it into a Word doc or an Open Office document. Then, convert to a PDF. Now, download BeCyPDFMetaEdit. This enables you to add lots of cool meta details to the PDF file. You can add lots of keywords, description, title etc. just as you would with a blog post. For great effect – add an image too, and a Header & Footer to the original file.
The next step is again pretty simple, but imperative. You need to add that PDF as a download on your website. Have a category called PDF downloads, or something similar, and link the PDF file there.
You will notice that this file will show up alongside your blog post ranking, and give you some added credence in the SERPs.
