Twitter is an amazing animal. It can take a brand new site and turn it into a thriving community, if you are willing to spend a few hours looking for targeted followers, and actually taking the time to speak with people about their interests.
The best thing to come out of twitter is we can find out what our prospective clients are doing, and where they are doing it. There are some great tools out there for various things, and I have listed a few of them here. Be sure to let me know how you get on with them!
This site gives you the capability to Follow people through popular tags that they use when they sign up. So if your main business is eBooks – then you would add the tag ‘eBooks’ and possibly ‘internet marketing’. Other people would find you using these tags.
This service is invaluable –and it is actually 100% free. It enables you to see the very latest trending topics on Twitter, and has a great little interactive tag cloud which has words which grow in size depending on their popularity. The best use of this website, is to take these trending topics JUST as they are beginning to spike. That way, your Twitter will always be up to date with current events, and your followers will love your for it! Also, a great way to use trending topics – write a short article about it on your blog… and as we know Google really loves new and current content.
A great service that works a lot like Google trends. If you want to know when a certain keyword is mentioned (maybe you want to keep up to date with some of the latest products and news about Sean Donahoe?) you would enter these keywords, and be emailed as and when they get a mention on Twitter.
Maybe a little low brow for some marketers, but the use of imagery really does work! By using little images in your tweets, you are able to stand out from a big long list of tweets.
Naturally the next progression for two of the world’s biggest social phenomena. Facebook updates can be published to your Twitter account instantly using this little app. If you want real synergy with your social activity, then this is certainly the app for you.
If you see any others you’d like mentioning, feel free to let us know!
