K.I.S.S. Your Internet Marketing Problems Goodbye

The attrition rate for internet marketers is absolutely horrendous.  During this upcoming year, countless people from every background, culture, and country from around the world will embark on a new journey in hopes of making a full time living online.  Unfortunately, the vast majority of these people will fail miserably.

Successful internet marketers are not special in any way.  They are no more intelligent or hard working than the average person, but some have become successful while others simply flounder.  Could it be that they are privy to information that others are not?  Not at all!  Everything you need to know in order to begin a profitable internet marketing campaign is already available online.  If you haven’t already checked it out, I give away a ton of free training HERE (just fill in the form).  So, if these people that are making a fortune online aren’t some sort of special breed of human, with advanced intelligence, or have “secret” information that the rest don’t, then why are they successful while everyone else falls flat on their face?

The answer is simple.  Whether they know it or not, the majority of successful marketers followed the K.I.S.S. method when they first started out.  For those that have never heard of the K.I.S.S. method, it is an acronym that stands for….

Keep It Simple, Stupid

It’s a basic phrase used to emphasize the importance of not over complicating things, which seems to be a MAJOR downfall for most.  A large portion of beginners come into the internet marketing game with plans of creating something incredibly elaborate.  Often times this comes from what I like to call “paralysis by analysis”.  There is SO much information available on the web today that it is easy to get confused or second guess yourself.  There are so called “gurus” have developed these incredibly sophisticated methods, because……

  1. They want to set themselves apart so they over complicate things to be different or to sound like they are in the “know”.
  2. People want NEW stuff.  They want the updated version of internet marketing, not what worked 10 years ago.

Instead, follow the K.I.S.S. method.  Find one simple strategy that works and stick to it.  You may not be the next Ryan Deiss or Sean Donahoe (joking) right off the bat, but you will be able to see some cash flow coming in.  Once you’ve mastered that strategy, then you can slowly upscale and develop a more complicated strategy.

In fact, I am going to give you a surefire K.I.S.S. method internet marketing strategy that WILL make you money.  It is the same strategy that has been employed by countless marketers over the past 15 years, and is still just as effective today as it was back then.

Step # 1 – Find a niche.  It can be something that you are interested in or even better, a truly narrowed down sub niche.  The only criterion for your niche is that there must be a demand from the people.  For instance, if I was a pet owner, perhaps I would choose a dog training niche.  There are people actively searching for information within this niche.  They have a problem and are willing to pay money for it.

Step #2 – Find a product within the niche or create your own that solves the problem found in Step #1.  forums, social media, or anywhere else the consumers within your niche hangout.  Find out what it is that they are looking.  They have a problem; it is your job to provide the solution.

Step #3 – Set up a domain and a wordpress site.

Step #4 – Create a free offer.  It should be something closely related to the product that you’ve chosen.

Step #5 – Create a squeeze page advertising your free offer.  Make it compelling.  You can use a plugin such as Optimizepress or upload a pre-existing theme.

Step #6 – Create an auto response series and place links to the product you’d like to sell.  Be sure to give something of value in EVERY email and don’t just stuff it full of affiliate links.  If you create a series of 7 emails, then only 3 or 4 should contain links to products and perhaps only 2 of those emails should focus on hard selling.

Step # 7 – Send targeted traffic to your squeeze page.

Step # 8 – Profit from your sales.

That’s 8 basic steps.  It’s so easy a caveman could do it!  When I present this simplified model to people, these are the usual responses I get.

Q: “If it’s so easy, how come more people aren’t doing it?”

A:  People ARE doing this and are very successful with it.  Once they’ve mastered this easy model, most are then able to move on to more complicated strategies.

Q:  “This doesn’t work anymore.  Google HATES squeeze pages!”

A:  Who says you have to rely on Google for traffic?  There are countless other methods to drive traffic such as solo ads, banner ads, social media, Youtube videos, etc.

Q: “This seems too simple to work”

A: That’s one of the reasons why most people don’t use it.  It seems too good to be true and opt for something more complex.  Think about it this way, if you were asking for driving directions, would ask for the route that has the most turns or would you search for the option that takes you straight where you want to go?  The option with the most turns is more likely to get you lost.  This is similar to a complex marketing strategy.  The less moving parts, the less there is to screw up.

Stop over complicating things.  Find one easy method that allows you to help connect others with a solution to their problem and work on it consistently.  Eventually the money will come and you will be able to upscale to more technical marketing strategies.  But until then, stick to  the K.I.S.S. method.

  1. Sean, your absolutely right. Before I started to build any traffic to my site I failed at everything I did and for all the reasons you state. When I finally decided to join a coaching program I was astonished at the simplicity of the training and what new marketers should be concentrating on. The only thing I would add is that if your going to seek out a mentor and coach. Keep it simple and learn from one at a time.
