If you are a regular subscriber to a few popular blogs, you will notice a theme that is becoming a great trend. You will see that most bloggers are trying their level best to become journalists, rather than webloggers.
They are stepping into this role using podcasts, webinars, and straightforward blog posts, because it is a method that works in engaging your visitors. The first answer you will get from anyone who has tried this, being new to the industry, is that they do not get anyone replying to their emails, because everyone is too busy.
This is, of course, a normal problem, and it will slow you down with your progress. You seem to write out the same introduction letter, and get a similar stock answer in response. It can be frustrating, but it can be cured.
You may be forgetting that the only reason this works, is because you are interviewing a person of authority in your niche. People who have authority usually have a product. The product is your key to an interview. Here’s how it would work:
1. You look on the forums in your niche for authority figures who have a product that you are interested in. It may be an SEO blueprint, or a Twitter traffic method. Whatever it is, if it’s a good pricepoint, then purchase it, providing it meets the below criteria in step 2
2. The next thing you should check is that the person selling the product has a support infrastructure that you can use to contact them
3. Read over the material, and write down some questions that you need answering. There will always be something you can get clarification on
4. Email the vendor, and ask them to clarify the points you have raised, and then in closing, ask if it is ok if you can quote them on your blog
Of course, you don’t want to be spending a lot of money on a product for this method, but you will find that there are a lot of low budget guides out there you can find, and an interview can be created just from the answers the vendor gives.
