Autoresponder Power

autoresponseMost people are wasting their autoresponder power. They are too busy chasing the first buck from an upsell to their list, which comes in the first email sent out by the marketer. Some people think this is the best time to hit a new subscriber, and some think it is too soon – preferring to go in with freebies for two weeks, and then upsell later.

As with most things, I err on the side of caution, and go with something in between, and with extra value to the subscriber. Whenever you get a new subscriber to your list, you should treat them like they are the only subscriber you have. Make everything personal, and make every word count. With that in mind, you should also hit them with a bunch of free stuff right on the Thank You screen, which tells them to look out for the email into their inbox (the double opt in part).

You can really go to town with the freebies here. The first thing to do, is look for products which give you a commission just for getting an email submit. You can go with a CPA company, or some marketers have their own affiliate program, which will allow you to still get paid, even if the subscriber signs up for a paid product in a month’s time for example.

Once you have some good offers, then you need to create a nice landing page, in your favorite format. You can use HTML for this, or even WordPress. You then need to log into your autoresponder account (Aweber for example) and then go to the settings for your thank you page. This is usually in your form setup process, where you pick the standard thank you page, or a custom one. You need to pick the custom one here. Save all your settings, and of course – TEST the process. You don’t want them getting a 404 when you are trying to say thank you for signing up!

Enter your URL for your thank you page, which will contain the free offers, which you will be paid for with every email submit, or conversion.

Few people really use autoresponders and the thank you pages to full effect. This is just one of the ways you can give people more value, and also create an income – even if the subscriber never buys anything from you, they may buy something from another marketer… and you will get paid.
